Unfortunately that was Tom's photoshop skills and not reality. The chip is still present. Ha.

Sooo many 987 and 997s out there so i'm surprised this isn't a thing.
On BAT, I’ve seen several 997s where the entire volcanic gray console has been painted black. IMO, it looks better and more updated.
Yeah that does look great. Eric from bumperplugs.com can do it.
It's just more than I want to spend on this particular car. Was looking for a super cheap solution. LOL
FWIW I find Bumperplugs pricing to be rather steep for this job. I have an aftermarket radio and asked about a quote since it should be less intensive given I don't have the 30 extra radio buttons. He quoted the same price as normal, which didn't go over well with me. A local customs shop half charged me a lot less than what he wanted.

I believe this might work for your touch up job:

it was $500 and they did all the work. worth every penny, IMO.

with bumperplugs it's $700, you have to remove everything yourself, and pay for shipping both ways.

@signde
The center console looks so much better. It also looks like you replaced the carbon fiber cup holder trim. Any update on the delaminated gauges? IMO, prices are going to start soaring for the 997.1 MT turbos. They are truly amazing cars.🤙🏻

Can you post some more interior and exterior photos?
Thanks,
Larry

hey Larry!

i sure did replace that carbon fiber trim. not sure about the current stuff but porsche 997 interior carbon is pure crap. it all falls apart. when i bought my 997 the cupholder trim was long gone. the dash strip with cupholder trim from porsche has been out of stock for a very long time now. i did a lot of research as to who makes the best aftermarket carbon and finally settled on MACarbon. they were the only company i could find that even replicate the cup symbol that comes painted on the OEM strip. really pleased with the results, highly recommend them.

i'll poke around for a 997 picture thread or make one if i can't find one.

You may have to start one. We need more 997 members! Is the 997 tt the last turbo with MT and hydraulic steering?

Maybe some nail polish? If you think it will hold up, go to a nail salon.

yes sir on both fronts to the best of my knowledge. visit any 997 turbo auction on BaT and you'll usually find those sticking points thrown out in the comments.

starting with the 991 turbo it was electric steering and PDK only. at one point wikipedia erroneously claimed some 991 were offered in manual but everyone knows this to be false - not sure if this has been fixed. 997.1 turbos are more common but the 997.2 turbos in manual are quite rare as many were configured with the newly offered PDK for that generation.

now, the new 992 sport classic is based on a turbo with the turbo power unit and does offer a manual, but it's a sport classic, not a turbo.
