How old is your car? Almost seems warranty worthy if you're still covered. At any rate, new ones would probably stay nice the longest. Most the lotion-type black treatments look good at first but don't last long at all on something like that. Most spray paints will fade in heavy sun, unless you use fancy paint. I'd probably find out what they cost new. They may be too cheap not to just get new ones. If not, then I am a big fan of Forever Black Trim and Bumper reconditioner. Unlike the lotion-type treatments, this stuff has black dye in it, so lasts a whole lot longer and makes parts look really good. There are other dye-based products out there now that may be as good or better, but this is the one I've tried and can vouch for....
Cheers Tom, some good tips.
Car is 4 years, it’s got an extended warranty which may/may not cover these but I’ll email them to see what response I get.
I remembered I’ve some CarPlay black trim wax in the garage http://www.carplan-international.com/ca ... k-trim-wax
So I’ll try that and move onto the forever black depending on success rate, thank you
Late last year I was getting my '14 Cayman S ready to sell and decided to put a new Pilkington windshield in it, as the old one had a couple of "stars" in it. I also decided to replace the cowl. The new cowl was $110 at the dealer and those caps came with it. I cant imagine new caps costing more than a couple of dollars given what they are.
