After asking my friends with older and newer Porsche cars, I'd say that they would like an Off Topic place to dump other Porsche things. Just saying, Porsche did make a Model 356.

Thanks for the congrats. All credit and thanks goes to everyone like yourself who has jumped on board and contributed to the site in such a big way. There is no playbook to build a forum, and starting from scratch is kind of crazy, especially with zero experience, but I sincerely believed the Porsche community needed a place on the internet to talk about Porsches without a big-money agenda lurking in the background. And here we are.911R wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 5:40 pm After asking my friends with older and newer Porsche cars, I'd say that they would like an Off Topic place to dump other Porsche things. As for an Off-Topic area, the O.K. Corral board was intended to serve the roll of a traditional "off-topic" area, but I didn't want to use that term because lots of people have a certain kind of content in mind when they hear 'off-topic' --cheesecake pics, trolls, politics-baiting, etc. -- and I didn't want to steer it in that direction. It's still an 'off-topic' (not about Porsches) board, but hopefully one that stays true to the civility and friendliness that Carpokes is aiming for.
We do have the "Classic Air-Cooled Cars" board, which was intended for G-body and earlier 911s, as well as 914 and 356. But if there are people here who want to break out a separate 356 (or whatever) board, I'm all ears. The 964/993 board was the direct result of a member's request... This really is a place for the Porsche community to develop the way it wants, so I really am all-ears.
We also have the "All Things Porsche" Board for topics about Porsches that don't fit in any other the other Porsche boards.

No problem.
What is it with the 10-stars thing? I say delete it since no one cares if posts are 5-star or 10-star post. This is still the internet so on one will care on any rating.
JMO, of course.

You are 100% right about that star thing. It came with the "thank" functionality and I've been meaning to figure out how to get rid of it without losing the thank function. I'm learning on the fly with the platform, so bear with me, but that's a good call out for sure. The other one I think is bizarre is in the profiles. You can "add friend" if there's someone you want to be friends with, which is harmless, but there is also an "add foe" option -- which just doesn't seem to be in the spirit of the board....911R wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 7:30 pm No problem.

Tom,
I will never have a foe
Any guy is a friend as a Porsche guy. A guy may hit thanks for an exceptionally good post or not.
I am a big fan of the early small bumper air-cooled cars while really liking the new 992 Porsche 911 water cooled cars. I already said that I am a long-time PCA Peachstate Region member.
I have five Werks events with three Rennsport Reunion events (it's every 4 years). I am always in.

I thought a guy from Silicon Valley could figure it out.
Thanks, and I think it removes some unnecessary clutter.
I went on a drive yesterday with a Porsche group. I mentioned this site and handed out (wrote it down) the address which I called CP.com. I believe people pay more attention when making it simple and on point.

Can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate that, sincerely. That's the very best way to grow this site into a place you want to call your own! I just ran out of business cards, but will be having more printed soon. If you (or anyone else) want some to have in your back pocket for those types of situations, just say the word.911R wrote: Sun Jun 05, 2022 12:44 pm I thought a guy from Silicon Valley could figure it out. Thanks, and I think it removes some unnecessary clutter.
