Hi All, I would like to invite you guys and gals to the unveiling of my car. I will update on here. I know that some of you are on the west coast or far away from Georgia. But maybe some of the GA people can attend. I will update with the dates and time, it will be at Hennessy Porsche in Roswell.

Very cool. If I weren't 2500 miles away.... :( Do you know the date and time yet? I sent you a set of license plate mounts yesterday, which you should have tomorrow or Monday. Tell them 58 times not to drill your bumper -- to increase the odds to 50/50.

If we could figure out how, any interest in an exclusive Carpokes live video feed of the dealer whisking the cover away. :)

That would be awesome to some how get a live feed to Carpokes so people can see the unveiling.

Thank you for the car tags mounts. In GA they do not drill front bumpers, unless of course asked.

No, no, these mounts are for the rear! Porsche gives you sheet metal screws and tells you to burrow them into your bumper plastic.... and they always drill holes into the plastic bumper as part of the delivery prep process unless you stop them.

Let me see about a live feed somehow. No pressure, especially since there is a lot going on during car pick-up day, but it would be super cool. :)

Hi Tom, can you please show me the mounting brackets for the tags? I will give these mounts to my friend who will be unwrapping my car and will be installing the PPF, he has a GT3 that he unwrapped himself too.

Thank you Tom, very cool idea. You are great. Now I know what you are talking. Sad, on the BMWs they already have a bracket, so you put your tag on that bracket, I can't believe that on the $200k car, you just drill and screw screws on a bumper??? Lol

Have you had any problems with the tape failing or the brackets coming off over time or with washing your car?

Time and car washes haven't been a problem. I've had maybe 3 or 4 people out of several hundred who have had their mounts pull away, but if that happens it's virtually always due to wax/chemicals on the painted surface or -- and this one's important -- a warped plate acting like a spring that's constantly pulling up on one or more mounts. Clean the paint thoroughly and make sure the plate is flat, and it should last a very long time. 3M claims the molding tape is 'permanent' and 'an excellent alternative to rivets.'

Here's that 3M says....

Permanent Bond for Moldings, Trim and Emblems
Designed specifically for auto care (PDF, 68.63 Mb) and maintenance, our 3M™ Super Strength Molding Tape permanently attaches plastic, metal, carbon fiber and composite parts to your vehicle's painted or unpainted surfaces. You can install side body moldings, drip rail moldings or fender and wheel trim to add instant protection against door dings and other hazards. Use this high-strength double-sided tape to add value to your vehicle by quickly installing or restoring decorative interior and exterior trim or factory emblems. The tape adhesive bonds instantly and holds up to impact, moisture and solvents used in routine maintenance.

From its convenient roll, 3M™ Super Strength Molding Tape is easily measured and cut to size for your specific job. It is available in several lengths and widths and can be applied quickly and easily without tools or the mess, mixing and hassle of liquid adhesives. Simply peel off the liners to expose the adhesive, and press firmly.

The Science of Better Auto Care from 3M
Since a 3M lab assistant invented masking tape in the 1930s, 3M has been developing products to help you get the most enjoyment and value from your vehicles. Our 3M™ Super Strength Molding Tape is a great example: instantly add value and longevity to your vehicle with moldings, emblems and other components, without tools or mess. This high-strength tape is also an excellent example of what 3M does best — Science. Applied to Life. ™

Permanently attaches side moldings, trim and emblems to vehicle exteriors and interiors
High strength double-sided adhesive withstands weather and impact
Easy-to-use press-on tape eliminates tools and mess
An excellent alternative to rivets
Available in several widths and lengths and cuts easily to size
Add long term value to your vehicles, quickly and easily

Count me in - I'm just up the road from Roswell - should be a fun time

Yes in Georgia we don't have front plates so the bumper is not "defaced"

Let me know date and time.
