Looking to see what size speakers people are able to fit in the front doors and rear quarters. I would love to find a set of what I think are from 968. Part 944 645 046 00

but I think they are NLA. Would love to see pics of what people are doing. Not looking to keep it stock looking. I’m willing to cut the panels. Also thinking of rear seat delete and making speaker boxes.

If you are starting from the 10-speaker system, there's a bunch of info
in this thread. Front door speakers are 3" mid and 5.25" woofer both 4 ohm. Tweeter is not a standard mount, but there's a printable file in that same thread to mount a standard tweeter. I'm not aware of replacement plates for the whole speaker box, but if as long as you toss the crossover and stock amp, you can chop it up to fit standard 8ohm auto speakers.
Rear seat speakers are 6" woofers also 4ohm and the tweeter is integrated into the grill. yYou can
get adapter plates here to fit standard speakers, but keep an eye on depth.
I hope this is okay to link, but there's also a bunch of info and pics
in this Pelican thread for both the 10 speaker and base speaker system.

I do not have the 10 speaker system. I should have stated that. Thanks for the link I’ll check it out.

4x6 in the front, although they can't be super deep unless you want to shim them out.
6.5" in the rear with either 3d printed or the factory adapter plates.
Low and behold, I happen to have a spare set of both! I have a pair of infinity reference 4x6 speakers and the Porsche 6.5 inch rear adapter plates. I would be happy to sell both to you at a loss. I had to order the plates from Germany and I ended up just 3d printing the plates out of impatience. I also ordered two pairs of the 4x6es for front and rear before I decided to go 6.5" in the rear. So I did install one pair of the 4x6es is the front and they sound great. I posted pictures on rennlist if you want to look.
Edit: you don't need that big ugly piece to install 6.5s in the rear. They work great even with the normal panel.

I'm thinking I just need to fill in the bass and mid-bass in the rear, so I was planning on fitting the Audison Prima AP6.5's. I used their AP5 woofers in the front kick-plates of my E36 M3 to good effect (and, importantly, they don't need a crossover).
I wanted the stock look in my 944, so I fit RetroSound 4x6's in the front doors. The neodymium version fits well (it's quite shallow), but the sound is a bit meh.

I think this is the stock round rear speaker and adapter. Is that small plastic piece on the bottom all that's needed to get any 6.5" speaker to fit? I saw this on ebay in the EU. From what I can gather, there is a L and a R side adapter plate. But, you're right that it wouldn't be too hard to fabricate your own, but the real piece is nice too.
Is this what you bought from Germany?
Regarding the front speakers, I struggled with many that didn't fit nicely so I just ordered directly from Porsche dealership. They sound fine and fit perfectly.

Yep it's just two small pieces of metal like in your photo and both sides are different.

I have looked at those a dozen times and decided they probably don't sound better then my stock speakers, which are in great shape.
Sounds like I made the right call. Good to hear some feedback!
One of these days I do plan to upgrade the rears. Need a little bass in my life

I recently redid my ten speaker system. I removed everything (left stock wiring in place) and put Focal 135AS up front and AS165 in the rear along with a Impulse 4.320 amp an Focal ISUB active. Great sound. Effectively I now have a 9 speaker system which is a greeat sound for a relatively good price.
