Hello,

I’m wanting to get an extended warranty for a 2015 GT3 and hope someone can help me find a good outfit to work with. Does anyone know if lifetime extended warranties exist?

Any leads or info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Pat Bergin

There have been lifetime extended service contracts offered in years back but they were part of a " Sales Program , " and were only offered when the vehicle was new. I remember when they were offered on some Chrysler, Dodge , Jeep and Ram products, it was a short term program and was soon discontinued. I have never heard of any program on a sports car or exotic that this was offered though you can add to your Porsche if it was CPO and you are still under that contract period. It won't be lifetime but it should stretch it out a little more. Now if it is not CPO I am unsure of your options but a lifetime contract is not in the cards.

If you are buying the car now from a Porsche dealer, the best option by far would be Porsche Certified Pre-Owned coverage. That may or may not be available, but it would be the first thing I’d ask about.

If Porsche CPO is not available, you can look at third-party service contracts, but I’d be very careful about the type of policy. In general, there are two very different kinds: exclusionary and stated component.

An exclusionary policy is usually the better kind. It covers the car unless the specific failure or part is excluded. That is the type I’d want if I were paying real money for coverage on a GT3.
A stated component policy is much less attractive. Those policies only cover the specific parts listed in the contract. Even if the list sounds long, the car has thousands of parts, so the vast majority may still be uncovered. I’d treat those as “better than nothing” if included with the sale, but I’d be reluctant to pay much for one.

Also, be aware that Porsche extended the engine warranty on the 2014–2016 GT3s, so check whether your car is still within that coverage and exactly when it expires.

I’m not aware of any true lifetime policy, unfortunately. And on a car like this, I’d read the actual contract very carefully before buying any generic third-party plan.
