Guys, what am I missing here, as you can see in the pictures, the back of the steering wheel has what looks like a contact ring, but there is nothing in the column that makes contact with it.
Car is an 87 Turbo, I know it is supposed to have airbags but the steering wheel that was in the car when I got it does not have them.
Horn not working

You're missing the copper brush.

I removed my airbag wheel and installed a MOMO and have the same issue.
Airbag-equipped car turnstalk assembly doesn't have that; they use the clockspring connection. And, I'm not sure you can just add it; I think we have to get a complete older assembly.
I've been driving without a horn for years but now I'll have to fix this if I take the car overseas (inspection)
Anyone have a good assembly for a 85.5+ car without airbags preferably without cruise control?
EDIT: Seems we only need this https://944online.com/horn-contact-ring ... 2-951-968/
EDIT #2: this might not work. See post below

I did not know that about airbag cars. Good info, thank you! Will correct my post above.danmartinic wrote: Wed Feb 25, 2026 8:31 am I removed my airbag wheel and installed a MOMO and have the same issue.

Well... we might have to get an older column switch after all.
I can't see any hole to insert this contact plate?

Yeah, I had seen that part but same as you did not see any place to plug it. Question, where does the horn connects to on an airbag car?
There seems to be a collection of these switches, 8 different ones depending on options. The link below is for an 85/2-88, There is another one for 89 and up and I assume another for early card.
I it may be time to get creative, if the turbo car had wire connection, we may be able to do the same.
