I've done partial engine drops on a .1 turbo plenty of times by supporting it on the aluminum oil pan.

The 991.2 and newer have plastic oil pans. Anyone know if it's still safe to rest it on a sheet of wood and follow the same procedure to drop the motor a few inches?

I don't know, but I did once see a 992 motor (with plastic oil pan) on a rolling cabinet at a dealer -- they removed it to allow for body work and it was basically just sitting on its belly on the rolling cabinet. I also see them shipping on pallets on eBay. That said, I'd be pretty nervous with those plastic pans...
