Has anyone ever repaired PS hoses ?

Just wondering if anyone has ever been brave enough to try and repair, or replace the 8 inch "hose" portion of the power steering return line. I was able to successfully replace the hose portion of the PS cooler line, and I'm itching to try the other one now. Just don't know what's under the strange connector on that side of the return line. I feel like the rack tower side would be easy enough...

Great suggestion. I’m just wondering if it’s possible to do it myself. Is a crimped connection really so much better than a hose clamp ? I have no frame of reference - just curious.
The return line is a low pressure line, a good hose clamp will work.
The hose from the PS pump to the rack is a high pressure line, this needs to be a high pressure hydraulic hose with crimped ends rated for high pressure. FYI most hydraulic systems run at 1,000psi or higher. Even stainless braided AN hose is only rated for 300 psi.

the leaking oil could have softend the bushings, making them squish out the the holders. the genuine porsche p/s hose is under 100 dollars, and assembly of the hose is the only hard part, and bushing are likewise cheap. This is NOT a dealer only type job, any mechanic can replace the hose and bushings. Figure 3-4 hours labor, $300 -500in parts, so should be Max $700-1200. That extra $1500 is for the coffee at the dealership
