As we already knew, the dot2 Turbo S will be a T-Hybrid.

From Motor1.com per CEO Blume at 2nd half earnings announcement:

"The New Porsche 911 Turbo S Debuts This Year. And It Will Be a Hybrid"
"A powerful new Porsche 911 is on the way."

It's what has been rumored in terms of the hybrid configuration, HP output, etc. The 15% base price increase is huge but also not unexpected as big increases are what's being seen across the 992.2 line. It's certainly quick off the line, especially considering the added size and weight.

Yeah, the only saving grace on the price bump is that the value of my current car has probably kept pace (or close to it) vs the depreciation curve during more normal times. Do these cars plug in to charge the hybrid part or does it self-charge through the brakes, etc? I need to study up on this tech I guess.

I'm curious to see how the new 992.2 version shakes out, especially since it and the GTS are new applications of the semi-hybrid technology. Meanwhile for now, I'll stick with my 992.1 version. I'm adding the Soul valved exhaust system for a much-needed sound improvement as well as the M-Engineering 93 octane Stage 1 tune for a significant performance enhancement. The 93 Octane Stage-1 tune takes stock torque from 562 to 707 Ft-Lbs and HP from 606 WHP to 721 WHP (likely around 800-810 crank figuring a 10-12% loss).

I’ll have to watch the Porsche intro video again, but I thought it was funny that the word “hybrid” seemed to be avoided during the whole thing. I like the vehicle. It is what it needs to be- iconic but this amount of power is pretty unusable for a daily driver. It makes for a good drag racer or a track car but I don’t think that is the intent for this car. Also, the rev sound left a lot to be desired. Nobody wants to spend money like this on a new vehicle and feel the need to revamp the exhaust system.

The sound was certainly uninspiring - several comments to that effect in the comments.

A friend got on the configurator this morning and specced out a coupe: $343,500 MSRP. Good grief! Blume has achieved his stated objective of uber-exclusive offerings, so I guess he's happy for the time being. However, he and Porsche may find themselves in deeper hot water than expected with pricing like this.

All very nice but I have no use for the added complexity, at least not for an owner such as myself who does ALL the wrenching.

I drove the 992 T-Hybrid Carrera 4 GTS on the track. Nice but I would never buy anything electric, be it Hybrid, Plug-In or EV.

My 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS will likely be my last Porsche that I will own.
