After watching a friend's Track Nanny work flawlessly in a GT4 at Arizona Motorsports Park I'd like to put in my vote for a version that will work with the 992 Sport Exhaust. I'm willing to put money down on a pre-order!

Howdy and welcome to Carpokes! The Track Nanny has internal jumpers I can configure for it to work on a 997GT3. Not 100% all 997's are the same, but I'd be very surprised if we can't get one working on any 997 with a PSE system. :)

I've had a racing license since 1990. I have tested my new 992 and found no track nannies, computer slow downs, or anything else.

It's as fast as the driver can dare take it on a race track.

They mean the carpokes Track Nanny. It’s a GPS-based controller for the PSE system so the flaps close where needed on tracks with sound limits/meters….

This 'sounds' great except that I never allowed my new Porsche to connect to Wi-Fi or to the internet of things. I refuse to allow it.

My car is only for me. I will never be a hotspot for Wi-Fi nor will I share my private driving experiences to anyone.

Hence, the car is great on a track, and no one can follow me.

No WiFi! Just GPS. It quiets the car when you are near the track's sound meter, so you don't get kicked off the track. :)

Tom,
I had no idea that some tracks have sound regulations for a 992?

I race on the East Coast in Sebring, Road Atlanta, VIR, Watkins Glen, and Road America. They have no sound regulations. All of these tracks allow full open exhausts in an older Porsche 911 as well as a the newer Porsche water-cooled cars.

How does the track directly find the GPS on a newer Porsche? They must have the signal from the car that someone gave them? It still relates to privacy as no one has my permission to track my car at all.

I have raced all of my cars with a required portable track timer which the track uses to time my laps. The timer sends a signal to the track on every lap. It's the car only on that day. The portable lap timer never knows the car.

I beat the heck out of a car yesterday in a full track practice with 2 different races on the track. I am sure no one knows which car.

Laguna Seca has a sound limit, and a sound meter on the side of the track to enforce it. Sadly, the same is true at Lime Rock and many other tracks these days. Makes no difference if it's a brand new GT3 or a '68 mustang, if a car goes by the sound meter and exceeds the sound limit, it gets pulled off the track. The track nanny is just a gizmo you install in your car to make the pse flaps close when you are near the sound meter. The track isn't cooperating or involved in any way. Think of it like google maps on your phone, but instead of it telling you that you have arrived at your destination, it closes your PSE flaps as you fly by the sound meter.

This might be just what I need Tom. I have a 997.2 GTS with Fabspeed headers, race cats, x pipe, on stock side mufflers. Currently I have the manual PSE controller (key fob remote) to turn PSE open or closed. But it would be nice to run the car at Laguna and have the Exhaust automatically switch via Track Nanny when going up the hill by the sound booth. Could just be all in my head, but I swear my “butt dyno” feels like the car is a little down on power when the exhaust is choked up. Especially on my 100 octane ECU file.
