I'm trying to get my DSC tuner to connect to the provided software. I've tried all of the videos, FAQs, and even reached out to them via email. I keep getting a "Device is not responding correctly. Check to make sure the correct port is set, and that the device is working correctly." I've tried re-downloading the bridge controller driver separately. But in the Device Manager, it lists the generic bridge controller under "Other" and Ports doesn't display the expected, "Silicon Labs CP210x......" item.
I'm sure someone on here has installed the DSC Tuner. I'm hoping someone can shed some light, as this is getting extremely frustrating.

I trust you installed the USB driver? Those things can be infuriating. I struggled for a week to get a USB-serial device working on my computer last month -- tried everything under the sun. I think tried it on a laptop and it worked on the first try. Maybe try another computer just to see? I guess there's also the possibility that there's something wrong with the DSC tuner itself....?

I have the DSC Tuner open on my desktop as we speak. I don't remember it being anything out of the ordinary. Do you have another machine to try the install on?
Are you having trouble getting the software to install onto your computer or the software to connect to your controller? It seems like the first but it has been some time and I don't remember a bridge controller.

According to the instructions, you shouldn't have to install the USB driver separately. I attempted it anyway. But I'm still getting the same error. I've tried using different computers, but I'm getting the same result. When I plug the unit in, the green light does go on.Tom wrote: Wed Jun 11, 2025 3:33 pm I trust you installed the USB driver? I've tried on two different computers (laptop and desktop). I'm having trouble with the software connecting to the unit. Apparently the bridge controller is used for the USB to communicate with the device. I'm at the breaking point trying to figure this out.J-Dub wrote: Wed Jun 11, 2025 8:14 pm I have the DSC Tuner open on my desktop as we speak. I don't remember it being anything out of the ordinary. Long shot, but USB cable could not be communicating correctly. Mini B plugs (male for the DSC) have been known to fail as well as regular Type A.
Another thought is a cable that's too long. I could be wrong but it seems like something was said when I got my DSC 3-years ago about keeping the connect cable as short as possible.
I imagine you've seen all the following but just in case, there are these bits from DSC website:
Please Acknowledge the Following:
– DSC Tuner software is designed only for use with a Windows 10/11 PC and requires a USB-MINI data cable to communicate with your DSC.
– DSC Tuner software download has a USB driver packaged in. It is not necessary to download a USB driver separately.
– Depending on your PC settings, some will give you a Run option, “Run as Admin” if applicable to your PC.
– Disregard info from outdated videos and literature since our download packaging streamlines and improves over time for your convenience.

I watched this one as well. The communication error is different in this example. It's simply setting the correct com port vs. the device not "responding correctly" in my error message. I'm starting to wonder if there's an issue with the connection on the unit itself.blueline wrote: Thu Jun 12, 2025 12:39 pm More from DSC:
