New to the Forum, Hello!

Hello everyone! Just making an introduction here (partially because I need the post to download the .stl for the timing tool loll)

Bought a '87 924s this past Friday, its in decent condition. Not too rusty (for Illinois at least) interior is decent, brakes need work, previous owner who bought it in 2018 never did timing belt, or knows when it was last done.

Ordred about 1200 worth of parts, tools, and supplies to do timing belt, all brakes, lines, hoses, all fluids in the car, spark plugs, wires, rotor, trunk struts, basic things mainly.

One question for you all, my dash is pretty well cracked, do any of you have any ideas on how to repair/ cover the soft touch? Minus replace it lol.

Thanks all, now im going to go read up on forum posts to learn! Like my non working odometer, jumpy speedo, nonworking tach, nonworking electric hatch latch, idle issues lol.

Great looking Redhead and this is a great site for the transaxles terrors from Stuttgart. Glad to have you aboard and I am sure you will get responses from other members but this ole 718 owner is clueless on your dash, sorry.

Welcome aboard David! Nice looking 924 -- those are the under-rated of the under-rated Porsche! Great to see one being taken care of like that! As for the dash, maybe just a cover until you bite the bullet. See this thread, and I wonder if that dash coming out at the end of the thread is as good as it looks and maybe available...

Great to see another transaxle car join the group and I agree with Tom that these are underappreciated.
You've obviously found parts sources!
I've seen some people try to fill the cracks with expanding foam, then sand to shape, then recover, but the dash would really need to come out to be effective. Tom's suggestion is probably the best interim solution, and will also help prevent the cracks getting worse.

Actually, the entire thread that the dash repair came from titled "Father kid 944 project" chronicling the project car refresh is pretty cool. Might give you some ideas.
