Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm about to do the timing belt replacement on my 87' Porsche 924S! Do any of you have any precautions or suggestions when I'm getting ready to do this?
For context, I'm not going to jack the car up but drive it up on ramps and go under the car to replace the timing belt and water pump. Thank you and I look forward to wrenching!

Before I got my 4-post lift, my go-to jacking technique was to put the rear tires on ramps and use jack stands in front -- I was able to get the car pretty high that way. If you only raise the front, the car will sit at an angle and trap some of the coolant and oil -- if you are planning to change either.hachku wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 5:46 pm Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'm about to do the timing belt replacement on my 87' Porsche 924S! We have a free timing belt tensioning tool here:

And a free balance shaft pin wrench here:

If you plan to remove the front pulley, you'll need a flywheel lock too. We have a 3D-printable version, but it's not strong enough to undo a fully torqued pulley bolt.
