Im a big fan of the Xona rotor turbos, I started using Tial turbos before they spun off that division to Xona rotor. The stainless hot side is precision cast and smaller outside dimensions than a old fashioned iron casting. Makes the fit next to the balance shaft much better.
The compressor sides have been improving all along and there are quite a few choices that are very efficient.
Mounting them has been a little annoying….until now!
I did some CAD work and CNC’ed some mounting plates. The Xona Rotor turbos have a mounting flange bolted to the center section, you can simply remove that flange and bolt on the new one that has 944 mounting pattern. Made out of stainless so there is no way you can strip the mounting hole!

I’ve owned my 951 for a few years now but I can’t say I’m a turbo expert, not even close. Currently using an Evergreen Raptor turbo 27/6 hybrid. Feels pretty strong to me. How would you compare a Xona turbo to the Raptor.
I purchased a 944S 16v long block I’m planning to convert to a turbo and I’m interested in getting the most efficient turbo for it without breaking the bank.

Charlie does a nice job updating some of the components but it still a 40 year old plain bearing turbo. Of course the main plus of the KKK series is that its bolt in. The Xona Rotor can be bolted in place now (with some grinding on the turbo support arm in some cases) but you will need to go to a v band down pipe. V band down pipes make indexing the turbo a snap. The impeller and exduce wheels are a lot more advanced in design. More efficient and a bigger range of performance. In the good old days if you wanted a big boost turbo you had to live with bad low rpm / low boost performance. There are a lot of different combos to choose from from Xona Rotor, in fact the ones I use are a custom combination that would well with the 944.

Love the look of freshly machined stainless. Like a little piece of jewelry! Nice work!
Put me down for one of these if you decide to produce it. Any recommendations for a 16V 3.0? I'm not expert at reading compressor maps but I feel like we sit in a weird pressure ratio/flow zone that never matches the peak efficiency part of the map.
