Thought it might be useful to really see what's going on when those clips break and you get nothing but hot air all summer!!

Haha! The unit in that video is not from my car though. Somehow I ended up with two spares, both of which would take some work to actually use in a car. They're great for spare parts (motors, rods, clips, drain tubes, etc.) and for creating diagnostic charts.

How do you access that linkage? I think I have this problem. Maybe you can give me some pointers tomorrow

@Efren : First, you flip yourself over and wedge yourself into the footwell...

Then start cursing.

That's about the extent of my memories of the ordeal and, nice thing, I probably have to redo it.

Good luck

Yes I figured it out. The hardest part is positioning your body there. With this old frame it’s hard to do. Two screws hold the cover in place.

My linkage seems to be fine. All connected.

Had the car at a AC specialist. They checked my system and all is good, no leaks, fully charged but I get no cold air. I thought this might be the problem. Was working but I can’t figure it out.

Less flippantly, I could never get an answer about where the arm should be when you attach a new clip. For example, with everything off, or set to cold, my assumption is that the rod should be all the way pushed in to close a flap. So, when reattaching the clip this is the right positioning.

I could be totally wrong; I was never able to get a straight answer when I asked the question elsewhere.

The reason I have to redo mine at some point is that I'm pretty sure that I didn't do that when I installed new clips and, as such, I still have a bit of hot air coming into the cabin when it "shouldn't".
