I was reading a thread on 718 Forum regarding the current allocation status for 718 GTS cars. Someone posted that they know several dealers who don’t charge an ADM but never have car allocations.

That reminded me of the customer who asked the man at the deli counter “how much is a pound of corned beef?” The deli man replied “it’s $20 per pound.” The customer was dismayed and responded “the deli across the street sells corned beef for $15 per pound” at which point the deli man said “then why don’t you buy it there?” The customer replied “because they are out of corned beef.” The deli man responded “when we are out of corned beef, our price will also be $15 per pound.”

Great anecdote! And very true.

Regarding the last of the 718s, I don't know how many will charge ADMs but I do know that from what I've found out from the dealer perspective, allocations are currently difficult to come by. Hoping that situation improves for all.

I didn't pay an ADM when I bought my GTS 4.0 two years ago.

Likewise. I've never paid ADM on any car, Porsche or otherwise.

The whole ADM concept completely blows my mind. We don't have ADM in Canada, and as far as I know, it's exclusively a US thing.

That's because Porsche can retaliate against dealers charging ADM here but in most states they cannot. Don't worry though, we actually have ADM, but t's a little more convoluted. Just check the Porsche Canada website at any time for used cars. You will notice a disproportionate number of low mileage "in demand" cars listed at prices well above MSRP. The dealer sells to a friend or a regular customer at MSRP, the new owner drives it a bit and then returns it, likely for a profit. The dealer then marks it up and sells it as a used car, which has no MSRP.

Can concur with @OttawaSteve and the unofficial admin on GT cars and higher echelon 911s such as Turbos. Local dealer really gives away the game when they have 4 or so of these alleged “used” cars all priced above Porsche MSRP and all advertised with the exact same 96km on the odometer.

My dealer, grapevine doesn’t charge adm on new cars. For this reason, they usually have a long list for allocations. They are a pleasure to deal with though. Used cars go at market price though but I guess that’s the world we live in. I have had many Transactions with them over the past several years and they’ve always given me MSRP cars and bought my cars for a very good price. I have nothing but good things to say.
