How do you do this? I’m about to buy one but there are no part numbers on our cranks, just casting numbers. Is it something that can be identified from a photo? @Tom , do you know? I’m starting the parts accumulation phase for a 2.8 stroker and can’t afford to get this wrong.

I have one of each out in the shop. I'll see if I can get you some tell-tale measurements.

That would be fantastic, @Tom . Thank you. If there are any visual indications as well, please share that too.

Thinking about it, the 3 liter crank I have is probably an S2. Are you trying to distinguish between and S2 and a 968 crank, or just between a 2.5 and a 3.0 crank?

Got it. I think there is a weight difference between the two. @Thom posted about that in the past. He may be able to confirm.

The 968 crank is slightly lighter than the S2's, like 25 kg instead of 27.5 kg. I would still not recommend dropping one on your foot.
I would not know about possible visual differences as I never really paid attention.
