This is an old Heimrath 924GTR that I restored, converted to a 944 3L NA 4V engine and raced in PCA and HSR for years. Its current owner put Darren Law in it at Sebring and I recently ran across this video. It was a good car, and Darren shows it can perform once tires are up to temp. It appears to be an old video that lacks quality, but I thought the racers on here may find it interesting. PS: Even a pro can miss gears!

I used the 924 GTR transaxle, Patrick. It was based on the 924T G-31 dog-leg box, but with several interesting features. It had a larger sump, internal pump and bungs for a cooler, spray bars on each gear, and a clever internal lockout to protect against inadvertent shifting into first gear without going to 2nd gear first. Although it was a syncro box, it shifted quickly and positively. I loved it and found it very reliable.333pg333 wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 5:47 pm That's great Michael! Car has a lot of gumbo for a 944 n/a competing against higher powered 911s. Was that a modified 924 gearbox?

I thought it must be some derivation of a G-31 Michael. The shifting looked really nice and snappy for an old H pattern. Looks more precise than my 968 trans. Do you remember the power / weight of the car?

The new owner added weight with air jacks, heavier wheels, and such. When I ran it it was around 5 lbs/hp, or in your speak around 2.4kg/hp. I worked hard on the power to weight which served me well.333pg333 wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 4:20 pm I thought it must be some derivation of a G-31 Michael. I also love the sound....something about a 4 valve........
Did you find a 924 shell to be lighter than a 944 shell?
Thanks for sharing that!

This was a 924GTR originally, and heavily modified; tube frame and all. There's not much left of the original GTR tub, although the corners and bits were GTR. It was very light via fiberglass, aluminum, mag wheels and such.
