New to carpokes and new to Porsche ownership. I recently acquired a 1988 944 2.5L Base. This is a departure from my previous BMW stable, so I'm looking forward to diversifying to new expirerneces. Happy to be a member as I've found many resources so far to help with the numerous troubleshooting she's needed - and I'm sure more to come. Looking to see how needy an old Porsche is compared to my old BMWs and how the driving experience compares.

I've spent a lot of time on pelican forums so far, and came here to check out the timing belt tool as mine has quite a whine to it. My remaining issues include a surging warm idle, AC, sunroof, a wheel bearing and some steering wheel shake. Not too bad!

I have been getting into older German Cars as I have departed from off-roading as a hobby and gotten into autocross and wrenching as a side hobby (by necessity it seems). I'll be entering my third decade of life and my 25th European car of about 35 overall. I enjoy giving these old cars a better life and in many cases, time and money that they wouldn't have received otherwise in ways of both cosmetic and mechanical work (this Porsche excluded, I usually buy basket cases  ). Happy to be a part of the forum!

Excellent intro! Welcome to Porsche ownership and welcome to Carpokes - I think you'll enjoy both!

By the way, I spent many years (long ago!) living in the SE part of the Mitten State. Many great memories.
