Before you say Navigation… both 2021 USA GT4s were not optioned with Navigation but one has a GPS antenna and the other doesn’t.

I would assume theft tracking purposes but alarm and tracking is not an option on the GT4 (it might be there but wasn’t a check box).

So…. Thoughts on why one car would have it and another not?

Do you have one? Pop off the passenger side plastic cover behind the rear view mirror or pull the PCM to find a blue connector with a cable plugged in.

Nope, also a standard item and that antenna is on top of the roof.

hmmm…. my car has GPS-based options, like knowing to offer the garage remote control screen when I pull in my driveway, and remembering where I raised the front end to get over speed bumps etc. Maybe compare option lists?

You know it occurred to me that it’s possible that when you check the sport Chrono box that could change whether you have a specific GPS option. From what I remember with the 981, if you had sport chrono you had a built-in hotspot with your PCM?
I’m just throwing that out there

Ed, that’s one difference. His car has Sport Chrono and I don’t. But I’m the one with the GPS!

Do you have Apple CarPlay as a separate option? I see that Apple recommends and external GPS for all CarPlay system (and requires it for wireless CarPlay).

That may have something to do with it! However the GT4 does not have wireless car play. I’m pretty sure the car without the GPS antenna was not optioned for CarPlay.

If Apple recommends GPS for wired-CarPlay, I wouldn't think Porsche would ignore their recommendation -- but I don't know.
