If you're looking for low budget power with (mostly) stock parts this build may be of interest:
This is a 2.5NA using stock cams, stock intake and TB, stock exhaust. It was carefully built, however, with key items being a race prepared cylinder head (stock valves), 3L crankshaft (so displacement of 2.8L), fresh 10.8:1 pistons, and stock Motronic with a custom chip developed on the engine dyno. Note that with a proper exhaust header and performance cams, power would be increased significantly. As is, it's close to S2 power at a Dollar Store price.

That's a significant rise in power compared to stock Michael. Are you saying this one is for sale or just showing what can be achieved with a fairly modest budget?

No Patrick, nothing for sale. Only showing what can be done.

3.0 crank is $1000. Already 1/3-1/4 of the cost to having an S2 engine for real.
