After owning this car for decades, something suddenly dawned on my when mulling license plate mount options for the 951. This reflector thing -- did Porsche ever offer them or are they all aftermarket?? Can't help but notice most 951 have a flat painted area where this reflector is on my car, which might also explain the wonky hanging license plate I have...?

Honestly I’ve never seen them listed as a factory option. I’ve only ever heard they were a dealer option, but I don’t have any data to back that conclusion.
1984 VW Rabbit Pick-up - Not stock
1988 944 Turbo S - Really not stock (Chris White special)
2012 VW Tiguan - Kinda stock
2013 Cayenne Base - 6 Speed! Tastefully modified, mostly stock

100% aftermarket although I believe often dealer fitted(USA). It's why when you see them with Porsche or Turbo etc it is not in proper Porsche Script as Porsche didn't make them

The worst part is that they likely drilled through the body to mount that. :(

Your post reminds me of the 944 Turbo GTR VIN plate. This was a 'made-in-America' Porsche, so if Porsche can spell it that way, you can too. :D
