Porsche Macan Air Suspension Compressor & Distribution Valve Replacement

So, a little bit of history... this was actually one of my first documented DIYs which I did about 2 or 3 years ago. By then, I didn't have the channel and didn't think about posting my experience. However, I think now is the appropriate time to show my experience.

Back then, I started having issues with the rear driver's side strut, which was slumping. I took the car to the dealer and they diagnosed it as a bad compressor and quoted me about $3,800. After thinking about the replacement, which they didn't guarantee would solve the problem, I decided to do it myself, trusting the dealer's diagnostics.

As you will see in the video, I replaced both the compressor and distribution valves successfully. This involved emptying the system and refilling it with High Purity Nitrogen - Nitrogen 5 (which is the gas recommended by manufacturer). Then, I proceeded to calibrate height.

However, back then I decided to purchased a 3rd party (aftermarket) compressor, which failed after a year of use. So, I had to replace it after a year, and at that point I decided to purchase the OEM compressor to complete the replacement.

On the original work depicted here, the compressor replacement didn't solve the original problem, meaning that the Porsche dealer's diagnostic was inaccurate. I then built a rig to measure pressure at different points of my suspension system. The rig would allow me to pressurize air bags and/or parts of the system individually, and isolate the pressure with a valve and monitor any pressure drop with a pressure gauge. I was able to detect pressure loss out of my rear driver's side bag, which was the one slumping. Replaced both rear air bags, and that solved the issue.
