I plan on participating in at least a couple DE days with the PCA this year and possibly one or two non-PCA DEs.

Are tow hooks typically required, or generally a good idea regardless?

Good ones aren’t cheap, as well I don’t want to look like a poser either…

I’m open to any other useful noob advice.

@JodehFoster
I would definitely use tow hooks. If you don't and you require a tow while on track, the resulting potential damage will buy a lot of Porsche tow hooks. And no, you'll look wise, not at all like a poseur.

Front & rear.

And in case you don't already know and so you don't get frustrated trying to screw them in, they are threaded backwards!

Ha! That’s good to know for sure.
Thanks for the confirmation and advice.

If you live in the south/southeast, I put together Google Docs spreadsheets every year with groups in the area and their DEs in this part of U.S. that I share with track day drivers. VIR, AMP, Barber, NCM, COTA, Rd Atlanta, Rd America, Putnam Park, NCM MSP, Polecat, Sebring, Daytona, Mid-Ohio, Nashville, Roebling Rd, Watkins Glen, Carolina MSP and more. It makes planning much easier. If you or others are interested, let me know (PM your email address) and I'll send it once I get it put together which is usually by mid-Feb. (It's a bit of PITA to compile every year but it is handy.)

Good to know about the spreadsheets!
I did a few parade laps at Mid-Ohio this year, our NORPCA has DE there. I’m fairly close to Nelson Ledges. I’ll be taking some vaca time visiting friends near Milwaukee and trying to plan participating in DE with that PCA group at RA in June…if they respond to my emails.
Pittsburgh is also a close option for me.
I’ll pm email addy. I appreciate the offer!
