Greetings new forum folk.....
I am a newbie, but have been around/owned Porsches over the years since the 70's.

Excited to be getting not only my First brand new Porsche, but getting her from the Factory with European Delivery.

Interested in hearing of anyone who has done so, and any pointers to make this epic occasion even better.

Picking up a 2023 GTS 4.0. :)

Thanks,
Cash

Congrats. I think that you posted in the wrong forum. You might ask a mod to move your post to the 718 forum. You definitely want to hear from Luke and Andrew, who have been planning and documenting their journey to ED, which will finally occur nest spring.

You're going to love your Cayman GTS. Congrats! What color and interior did you choose? And when's the projected European date?

And by the way, welcome to Carpokes!

I did European Delivery on a Mercedes and picked it up in Stuttgart.

From there I travelled to Bavaria, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and back to Germany.

There are certain things to be aware of.

Certain countries mandate snow tires when driving during certain months so depending on when you are getting the car dictates how you handle that.

Austria and Italy require prepaid tokens for driving on “highways”.

European roads can be very narrow and curb rash on your rims will be hard to avoid.

Check that European navigation maps are installed they will make your driving so much easier.

Europeans actually follow traffic rules so driving quickly is much safer than here in the US.

Although if you plan on following a break in schedule you won’t be seeing your cars full potential.

Drivers on the autobahn drive fast. Always stay to right unless you are passing. Police will ticket you in a heartbeat for not following rules.

I think I’d ship the new car home and rent a car to tour Europe.🤔

I agree, I've driven in Spain and France, and driving in a place where the rules and road signs are strange(and in a different language), makes for a stressful time. I've often dreamed of a European delivery but now I agree with Larry, I'd rather rent a car I don't have to possess over getting dinged than worry my pride and joy will be damaged.

That said, many have had wonderful experiences so if you're doing it I hope you enjoy it immensely.
