Hi Larry,
Happy to be here
The '63 356 B was handed down from my dad. He still has his '68 912 that started the whole Porsche fever. I drove the 356 in high school (it was a mess back then). I was hit in the rear in '82 and my dad parked it for years. It then moved to my house when I married and started my adult life, lol!! It stayed buried in the dirt until 2015. We finally had the resources and time to dig it out and send it off for restoration. 3 years later (2018) she was back on the road and I am so grateful that my dad just didn't send it to the junk yard so many years ago.
'88 Targa came into my life in about 2016 or so. After seeing how the '63 was going to shape up, I was scared to think I would be driving it around as much as I was dreaming of. Targa to the rescue! I then realized that car was too nicely preserved to drive daily. I guess this might be how a collection starts...
'97 Boxster to the rescue! My dear friend in our NM 356 club (he's 92!) had the Boxster. He was quite the autocross guy with that car. I asked him to please call me first if he ever wanted to sell. About 1 year later, he said he was thinking of selling her. I drove it and purchased on the spot. Daily driver at last!! Bill often says he misses the car, but he gets to see it all the time when we get together. I know why he misses the car, because it's a blast to drive!
There's the background on my Porsche adventure so far! Long story, but it's nice to have a fun place to share v
