Looks like those bolts are drilled for safety wire too -- might be worth adding the wire. I'm wondering it those adapter plates lend themselves to loose bolts, causing someone to drill them originally?Spencan wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 1:45 pm Just an update on my “slow to spool” situation. I found my culprit to the flange that connects 90* elbow pipe to the wastegate was not tightened all of the way; IMG_2723.jpegI was able to unscrew the three nuts/bolts with my hand! So, I put lock washers on both ends and tightened them, and problem solved!

That's universally good advice that applies well beyond car repairs.michaelmount123 wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 1:56 pm Nice work, and a lesson to all with a similar spooling issue. Check all the simple things first!

They weren't the bolts on the adapter plates, they were the 3 that connect the pipe to the exhaust, the other end. You are right Tom, I should and will go back and add the safety wires to the adapter plate bolts.Tom wrote: Sun Nov 05, 2023 2:06 pmLooks like those bolts are drilled for safety wire too -- might be worth adding the wire. I always use mechanical locking nuts on that connection. I probably have 3 spares if you need them.

That’s what I tightened so that there’s no play/leaks…
