It's on the way to a new life and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the process.

I'll also add that it's really good to see you taking these vehicles from the edge of their graves and giving them new lives. There is more to the end result of what you do (which is impressive) than just the restoration to a drive-able and use-able state. :thumbup:

Looks awesome. Love living vicariously through your projects. A good friend had a '74 back in the day and had an impossible time with the window frames on the doors. They kept cracking at the base, even after welding. If you are in the mood to reinforce anything, that's a prime target!

Actually the replacement doors are shipping this week. And the new doors are improved (IMO) in that the window frames are bolt-in, not welded. Ford used bolt-in through '68, then welded them from '69 on. The original doors on this rig—in addition to being rusty—have broken welds on both sides. Glad to not have to try to weld that trouble spot.

Are they aftermarket? Would love to see them when you get them. Those window frames were truly vexing.

Repro, but Ford-authorized. Supposed to be pretty nice. Broncos are a hot commodity now, you can buy pretty much anything for them. Ford-licensed complete new bodies are available. Most states require you to build on an original frame with a valid VIN stamped in it to be able to title and register it, but other than that you can build an entire new Bronco from scratch if you want.

It's been a while since I updated this.

After the floors were finished, I moved on to the inner and outer cowls, and finally the new windshield frame. Also hung the new door on the driver's side. Starting to look a bit more like a Bronco, not a Land Rover Lightweight.

@Arne2

Saw this today and thought it might interest you insofar as pricing. (It's up to $47k as I write this.)

Auction for this '66 ends in a few hours, so I would guess that bids might start heating up in the closing moments. It's good-looking.

Edit: Auction over and a "no sale" as reserve not met. Last bid was $59k.

Some of the recent BaT auctions have had eye-watering prices. Here's one that has a new body, and nice, but not exotic specs. The final price even surprised the seller.

Like most of my projects, mine won't be built to this level. I'm trying to hold my costs to about $40k, and if I can break even (or fairly close) I'll be happy.

My goodness. Nice Bronco (and I realize there are supposedly nicer ones out there), but $149k! Just wow. Wonder if it will ever get driven? Doubtful.

I much, much prefer the idea of what you do - make a good, handsome, solid driver out of a unique car, one that was way past needing slight TLC, and then find it a home where it can be driven and enjoyed. A true survivor rescued from the grave. Anything else regarding these types of vehicles just doesn't make much sense to me, that is unless I'm a museum.

Yeah, I suspect there is a decent market for solid, sorted driver-level Broncos in the $35-50k range. We'll see if I'm right in another 12-18 months...
