You don’t mean RS200 do you?

At the time there were no large injectors available for motorsports. So what to do? Andial chose to run two 951 injectors off the Porsche shelf. It's currently set up to run both injectors simultaneously, and it does run sequentially as a 4 cylinder. The fuel rail is a custom piece to accommodate the dual injectors and the intake manifolds have been (beautifully) modified as well.

As an aside, the first generation 944GTR engine was developed by McLaren and used mechanical injection. The engine was deemed 'not ready' due to durability issues. Andial then took over engine development and converted to electronic engine control using a modified 962 Bosch ECU. They found the power and had success with the very early electronics. We're using MoTec due to the stability and capability of today's ECU's. Anyone notice the Kinsler DBW throttle actuator?

No, the RS200 is a completely different car.

@michaelmount123 Is the cam sync via the peg on the camshaft sprocket original to that engine, or did you add that as part of the Motec system?

Thanks again for sharing all of the pictures and information, what a machine!

The cam sync on the cam sprocket is an add-on, as is the crank sensor and wheel on the front of the crank. The modern sensors were deemed more reliable and front mounted to be more accessable and easy to service.

I couldn't figure out how it would run well with the MAP sensor on the plenum before the throttle bodies. I couldn't see any MAP sensor connections after the throttle bodies....kind of hard to tune (unless I was missing something)
Yes, Chris, tuning a turbo engine with ITB's is not common nor straight forward. The mapping is based on Alpha-N, (3D) but also references boost from the plenum resulting in 4D mapping. Smart people, these ECU geeks! We hope to be back on the dyno early in January. Still lots to do with the car.

The engine is back in the car. Cleaned up a lot of things, and hope to be on the dyno this week.

Can't wait for the dyno -- looks like modern art!!

Is the skull and cross bones sticker a 944 cam belt joke?

Was the intake plenum also tested on the flow bench? It would be interesting to know how balanced it is.

So I was browsing facebook recently and came across the Porsche 944 GTR #3 page, and it appears to be the same engine. I believe only 7 of these cars were built. I assume this engine must be out of the #7 car?

Very very cool that you are working on one of these engines @michaelmount123! I think I read these make around 550hp?
