I haven't had a stereo in my car for 15years, it doesn't have much in the way of silencing in the exhaust either.
I've put over 16k miles on the GT4 and never, ever turn on the stereo. The PCM screen remains off at all times too. Same as Jx951 and blade7, I prefer to listen to the sounds of the car.

Even though I configured the alleged top end Burmesters in the two latest P-cars, I did so because B-Mesters are usually expected and it's best that they are there for others down the road, including future owners. It is pretty much a demand option in that respect. There will also be times where I want to have something somewhat listenable in the car, so it's best to be prepared.

However, for me, music in a car never approaches that of a halfway decent in-house system. I realize that it's a very personal choice for each of us, but I feel there is just too much going on in a car noise-wise, especially a sports-type vehicle with its performance tires, sport exhaust, harsher ride, etc. Add in other road noise from traffic, loud trucks, etc., and music will be rendered relatively poorly no matter how good the system. Also, I generally don't like additional distractions when driving. (That definitely includes phones. No Bluetooth BS interruptions for me!)

Having said all of that, if I were to have a Chris White 944 or any new vehicle, it will have the best stereo available for the reasons mentioned. Who knows, maybe I want to sit in the car listening to music while it's in the garage or otherwise not running. :)

When I’m driving for ‘fun’ I forego the stereo. When I’m in traffic I need it to ward off impending road rage!! Some of us need a calming influence sometimes.
The Burmester was actually pretty good in the turbo cayenne.
The fun thing I am shooting for is to be able to display all sorts of engine data on the screen. No dash panel gauges like 90% of the 944s out there!

I’m a huge music fan. Listening to music while driving is a must.

Growing up as a teen, the first thing you did to your car was upgrade the head and speakers. Sometimes the “system” was worth more that the car lol

Same for me, even given what I wrote earlier. At home, a line-level music signal is streaming 24x7 from a PC server to amps covering much of the house and the garage. (Yes, I do turn the system amps off if/when going to bed but I let whatever is streaming continue on its merry way.)

However, in a vehicle the audio quality is never as good for me and is usually further degraded by extraneous noise, so I pay little to no attention to music even if on as it always is in the truck and the Cayenne. I'll turn it on in occasionally in sport cars as background (not the GT4 as the sounds from the car itself are just too sweet), but I'm never satisfied with how the music sounds. Maybe some serious audio upgrades would cure that but I don't know...
