Separate but related, a long ago class in manufacturing included a reminder from an engineer at GM. The lesson was that a part that isn't included doesn't need to be designed, purchased, delivered, carried to an assembly line, tested, QC'd and function tested, installed, inspected, then inventoried and maintained in dealer stock, warrantied, and maintained available for 20 years since last used. Or the inverse, any part we can leave out saves us.... Porsche wouldn't have put the part in the car if there wasn't a really really good reason.
As an engineer, I love this quote- but also, people make mistakes and Porsche also removed it from the latest of late models... why? Maybe after a decade of building/selling/racing these cars, Porsche decided to save costs on parts that were no longer needed?
Fallacy of the masses perhaps, but with so many people deleting the Venturi and updating to the later factory set up, you'd think any real-world downside would have been discovered by now.
I agree! All of these threads are titled, "official venturi delete" but there is no meaningful information or follow up input on how the car performs... I'll follow up in 500 miles with a comparison...

Maybe after a decade in order to save a few deutchmarks, they decided to settle for good enough instead of great.

944er sir, your '88 has the factory venturi delete, think I saw that in your video? Does it cause any weirdness with idle or braking?

My early '85, the only Porsche I own, still has its factory venturi.
