Many of us have seen pictures of L.A.’s iconic Griffith Observatory in the Hollywood Hills, but how about the dramatic (scary?) statues out front?

Lightening strike damage to an oak tree in our yard.

Wow, sad to loose such a mature tree.

We have not lost it yet. We called our arborist and he told us what to do to control insects. Now we wait to see if it can heal itself. Fortunately, the damaged bark is linear. Neighbors had a strike a couple years ago where the lightening damage the bark circumferentially around the entire tree. It died pretty quickly. On our tree, it has been 10 weeks and we have not seen any major areas of browning or die back. Thank for asking.
