Kind of cool that e-Brake News posted this Oct 1986 Car & Driver review of the then new 16v 944S, written by Csaba Csere almost 40 years ago:

The C&D site must be broken. I get one of those "prove your not a bot" screens that makes me press and hold down a button on the screen. I get the "check" that it's complete but just keeps having me do it over and over.

The links work fine for me. Great article too. Reminds us of a time when Porsche expected the 944 to 'become its mainstream model.'

There is apparently some kind of issue with "caranddriver.com" per a couple of "website down?" services out there. However, I was able to access the main C&D site as well as the two article links.

I just now retried, and both links plus the basic "caranddriver.com" are good. I did this across three browsers - FireFox, Chrome & Edge. BUT, note that I had to clear the caranddriver cache at Chrome, otherwise I got the same silly screen you were getting and it would not resolve, so there is a browser/site conflict, probably due to a C&D site update and/or bad cookies.

Try clearing your cache for "caranddriver.com" in whatever browser you are using - that should restore access.

Once I cleared cache at Chrome, all went fine. As I mentioned, it seems that some kind of browser updates have rendered the site partially inaccessible - it happens.

Clearing cache should do the trick but you also might want to try a diff browser such as FireFox and see how it goes.
(I'm assuming in all of this that you are trying to access the C&D site via a PC.) Once you are able to access the main C&D home page you should be fine with the article links. Can also then copy/paste the article link in the open C&D url address box as a shortcut and a way to get directly to the article once you're at the C&D site.

Curious how it turns out, so please let me know.

I went to the main C&D site then tried the links and they worked! I appreciate the help!

Some interesting highlights from the article.

-190 HP @ 6K rpm (converted to American HP)
-170 ft/lb @ 4,300 rpm's
- 0-60 in 7.7; 15.4 sec qtr mile (Conservative Porsche Number)
-Top speed of 151 was reached during Autobahn testing
-75.4 HP/Liter at the time was the highest for a NATURALLY ASPIRATED car outside of Ferrari or Lamborghini
-10:9:1 Compression Ratio (second highest in the USA to the Jaguar's V-12 with an 11:5.1 ratio.)
-6800 RPM Redline (The highest of any transaxle Porsche)
-The Bosch Motronic DME was specific and would pull timing if it detected detonation (8V cars did not do this)
**Note - the above is the reason why there is no F9 Tech DME available for 16v cars
-Fuel Pressure increased from 36 to 55PSI (3.8 bar)

One thing the article doesn't mention is that the DME has 100% control of the idle. That means there is no manual adjustment at the throttle body AND the ICV is specific to the 16v cars - they are only 2 prong connectors as opposed to 3 prong. If you cheap out on a no-name ICV, you'll be hunting fluctuating idle issues and stalling episodes when coming to a stop. New 16V Bosch ICV's are also now hard to find and very expensive. I think I paid around $700.

I miss my S. Trust me, I LOVE my turbo, but the power delivery of the 16V was extremely linear and man that thing SCREAMED when you got close to the 6,800rpm redline. I've never driven an S2, but I can see why many prefer the torquier 3L motor with the 16V head over the torque spike of a 951.
