Porsche has apparently made the decision to end production of 982 models October 2025. (I had previously understood that the last year for ICE 718s was 2024 but that was not correct.)
Because the 718s don't include Autonomous Emergency Braking, PDK volume will be extremely limited. (Euro regs/limitations???) I read that dealers are being told to encourage MT Caymans/Boxsters whenever possible.

is Autonomous Emergency Braking something that allows someone in DC to brake for you? Another reason to keep my car.

I thought the same - I tried reading between the lines (as I always do) to see if more changes might be coming from Porsche.J-Dub wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 8:04 amThanks for that link, lots of interesting details there.blueline wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2024 6:38 pm And now there's this in tonight's eBrake News:

The screen shot from the actual dealer portal says "End of production is currently (my emphasis) planned for October 2025."
I picked up on the word "currently" as though Porsche might be hedging their all-EV bets. It's about time. (They don't want to create the environment for a potential "extinction" event.)
ICE forever!!! Never say Never!
Besides, there's now-defunct (as of yesterday) Fiskar, one of over a dozen major EV startups using phony meme-driven SPAC money that have gone under or are about to. Shares are trading at 2¢ today. Blew through a billion dollars of investor money through yet another fraud-laden (in my opinion) SPAC.
SPACs aren't even worthy enough to qualify as "money-I-can-afford-to-lose" investments. They are worse than gambling and light years from true investing. Just my 2¢. (A little reflection back to today's current Fiskar stock price.

I focused on the part where VW had a new and even more modular chassis system, they touted the MQB as the Swiss army knife of underpinnings. Looking forward to all of these changes.... speaking of changes did you watch the Engineering Explained 2025 GTS video on the electric turbo lambda 1 engine?

I did. It was impressive but it took exploring a bit to get past the initial reluctance I had. Now I'm eager and am at the head of the line for a Targa 4 GTS, so the new T-Hybrid technology will be the only route for me assuming I follow through (which I plan to do). Not sure when the GTS allocations will start filtering in at my dealer but I imagine they will be soon.J-Dub wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 7:08 pm I focused on the part where VW had a new and even more modular chassis system, they touted the MQB as the Swiss army knife of underpinnings. There's a recent Carpokes thread regarding the 992.2 GTS models with more YouTube videos and articles. The SavageGeese video featured the 911 boss and the chief engineer if I remember correctly. It was good.

Correction for above — Fiskars makes scissors, shears and such. Fisker made EVs (before they went belly up).

Lol. I did that exact same thing when looking up some more background a while ago. I didn't learn my lesson and didn't proof very well either. Sorry Fiskar scissor maker!
For what it's worth, this is Fisker's second failure following that of Fisker Automotive which also cost investors (and the Gov) some serious coin. (Since you used red, I figured I'd do blue for the "e" in my reply.
)
Speaking of losses, Fisker's market cap was once as high as $8 billion - all down the drain. That's a significant investor bath.
