718 ABS License Plate Mounts
Tom and anyone else who might have experience. How are these mounts on PPF? I'm getting full PPF and also ceramic coating so I'm thinking at least for the the area where the mounts are to have my shop not put ceramic there but I'm thinking these should stick to the PPF itself? Maybe if not, they can cut the little rectangle area afterwards and stick it to that. Thanks for any help!

Based on my experience the recommended practice is never stick anything on top of PPF. Best to just have them avoid that license plate rectangle. Ceramic is less risky, but I would follow the same policy (I.e. skip that area).PBP718 wrote: Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:35 am Tom and anyone else who might have experience. How are these mounts on PPF? The mounts will stick like crazy to PPF -- at least as strong as the paint, probably better. So strong that removing them, if ever needed, is a double challenge over ppf -- with the risk of pulling up the film. Just be sure not to stick them over ceramic coatings, wax, etc. I'd lean toward P_Coastal's advice if you have the choice. When I had ppf done on my 992, I did not have film put on the license plate area, in part because I knew I'd be taking them off for R&D from time-to-time.

I second Tom's & P_Coastal's advice. The area behind the license plate does not need PPF for any reason unless you are changing car color or doing a stealth or some other kind of custom wrap. The license plate area is good for doing a clean, slightly smaller than license plate sized rectangle for a clean look. (The edges of the PPF cut will be hidden behind the plate.)
