To 914 or not to 914…that is the question

911, 912, 914, 356 and all other air-cooled cars!

My first Porsche was a 914...wish I still had it. Drove it to the top of Pikes Peak once so I had a fourteener on top of a fourteener! I often ponder buying another one. It is nice to see them getting some appreciation. I was told that they were sold as a VW in Germany.

So I can make a direct comparison, as I own a '71 911T that is nearly stock (E cam rebuild) and I recently purchased a '71 914-6 GT clone that was originally a 4 -- converted to a 6 in the early 80s by the Porsche factory with nearly an identical engine to my 911. Both cars are wonderful to drive, but the 914 is nearly impossible to send wrong. It it incredibly neutral, pivots from just in back of your ears and makes a glorious sound (again just in back of your ears). So light. Better grip due to the wider Fuchs. I drive the 911 to dinner with my wife because she likes the more sedate feel of the car, but I run with my friends to coffee with the wild little 914. You can't go wrong with either, but for the money, get a 914 2.0 four and hot rod it a bit or find one with a 6 and hold on!

Pretty awesome! I don't want to slight the beautiful and pristine-looking 911T, but I can't take my eyes off the picture of your 914! My goodness it's nice!
