Hello,

I'm looking for the fixed/non-floating portion of a front brake caliper assembly for my 1987 944na.

Pictured here are the fixed portions of the front calipers. These parts bolt to the car. One is pretty, uh, messed up. I'm looking to buy a replacement.

These are from a remanufactured pair that I installed on the car some five years ago. It must have been dark or I must have been in a hurry, because one is nice and straight and has good machined surfaces. The same can't be said for the one on the right in these photos.

With just the slightest persuasion, the flat bar - the thing that helps secure the brake pad mounting pins - just fell off.

Does anybody have a decent one - I believe the fixed portions are identical on either side of 944na calipers, as is the floating frame. The only difference between left and right is the piston puck module itself.

Winter has turned to summer in the PNW, and I'm motivated to finish some projects. I'm still in search of a single part for this project, the fixed portion pictured here. This will complete my spare set of front calipers.

Sorry -- I'd give you one if I had it. How does that even happen? Looks like it was made by a medieval blacksmith...! :silent:

No doubt! Incredibly, this is the condition I received it. Back in the day when we could still order "remanufactured" calipers from places like RockAuto (or any FLAPS really), I ordered a pair of front calipers. This is how one of them came.

I was on a road trip some 2000 miles from home and using a friend's garage to do a brake job and some other maintenance - I think one of the sway bar support links had rusted through, and I needed brake pads, so I figured I'd do calipers and rotors and braided lines at the same time.

I vaguely recall thinking, "well dammit, guess I'm stuck putting this thing on - I'll deal with it when I get back home".

Some six years later, after no problems with the brakes, I remembered to deal with it. Knowing what I know now, I should have swapped in my original non-medievaled component. Actually should have simply bought a new seal kit at the time, and maybe caliper pistons. Hindsight and all that.

I'm still looking for the fixed portion of a single front 944na front brake caliper. 👀

Please send me a PM if you have one.
