So I just got back from my almost 3,200mi road trip in the S2 to 944Fest and back (Florida to Ohio, with stops on the way back), and the car handled great on track. I'll have more on my trip in a different thread.
I'm wanting to replace some bushings on the car, since I doubt they've ever been done and I think it would help firm up my ride between now and when I have the $$$ to throw at a torsion bar delete. I had a *lot* of body roll with the S2, and I have some steering slack.
A friend urged me to get poly steering rack bushings, which I'm going to order this evening and try out on the car. But I also want to get some poly sway bar bushings. My S2 is stock with 26.8mm front and 16mm rear bushings. I also want to upgrade the castors to the 968 style, since my BBS RS are a non-stock and heavier setup -- plus my steering wanders a lot (which could be a combination of rack stuff and the castor blocks). Any recommendations on that instead of OEM?
Below are the links on bushings I've found. Powerflex is recommended a lot but they are $$$ which I'm not interested in throwing at a stock setup that will eventually get replaced.
I found these for the rack, from California. Seems to be from a company that went out of business.

Same guy has F/sway bar parts, but none for the rear (not even the drop links)

This int'l seller has this kit for my sway bar setup but it's from "Across the Pond" -- some reviews I see from forums say they're either really great but somebody with a BMW said they didn't last very long.

Also a last bit: I might get some Weltmeister bars for the car instead, but I've seen a lot of people urging to swap from alloy control arms to steel. Anybody have first hand experience with that?
Poly bushings: What & where to get? (also 968 castors)
So did more digging: Couldn't find jackshit.
Flo-flex is apparently absolute trash and won't survive track abuse according to a couple ppl on 944 No Spam (FB group), so I didn't go with that option.
The guy selling the Ricochet bushings has nothing else left in the 'back' so what's for sale is all he has. Seems like Ricochet is fully out of business now. I ordered the power steering rack bushings, the F/sway bar outer and inner (26.8) bushings. I'm also ordering some new spherical drop links from BDR, for half what Racer's Edge is.
Not sure what I'm going to do about the R/sway bar's inner bushings, I might just leave it for now. Front roll is a bigger concern than rear roll right now.

I'll keep those bookmarked, they might work for the street-track project I want. I'm planning to run Elephant Racing's sport hardness bushings in my control arms (eventually). My parts should have shipped now but apparently not. I need to send this seller a message, I ordered on the 12th and I still don't even have a label created for my order.gruhsy wrote: Tue Sep 13, 2022 9:47 am Performance products Porsche still carry the Weltmeister Polygraphite A-Arm Bushings

Late to the party, looks like those steering rack bushings could be 3D printed!
I use ER sports hardness bushings in my rear suspension. They are good. I will upgrade the front when they are due. I replaced with factory rubber and 968 castor blocks about 10 yrs ago.
I use home made triangulating brackets on my front swaybar but a few vendors sell their own version, and then there is this HD version from LR, but your LR experience may vary https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Porsch ... DFSBM.html

I refuse to buy anything from Lindsey Racing after the awful experiences me and a couple friends have had. I got the sway bar bracket reinforcements from another company, which I plan to install with the new F/sway bar bushings.
On the note about the bushings I ordered, 4 days with not even a label being made. I politely asked what's the status of my order, and the next day it was shipped. But when it arrived today (week and a half after ordering) I found only one of the four bushing kits I ordered. I'm not pleased that I was charged $17 for shipping right now.

As you found out, the suspension in the S2 is very compliant on the track, so I doubt just changing a few bushings is going to make a big difference. The stock sway bars are also not very stiff. You could upgrade those to the 968 M030 (re-issued solid "H&R" 28.6mm bar) and rear adjustable 19mm bar (along with Racer's Edge Delrin bushings), but as you said, you really need stiffer springs and upgraded struts and shocks.

My '86 951 suspension was pretty much shot, but installing the 968 adjustable sway bars made a huge difference in the feel of the car -- even with worn-out factory struts. The KW coil-overs then took it to a whole new level. I do have the 968 castor blocks, but all the other bushings are factory 951....Latitude48 wrote: Wed Sep 21, 2022 4:15 pm As you found out, the suspension in the S2 is very compliant on the track, so I doubt just changing a few bushings is going to make a big difference. It's not gonna do much, but it does replace 30yr old rubber, especially the main F/sway bushings which are a little swollen from my oil leaks.Latitude48 wrote: Wed Sep 21, 2022 4:15 pm As you found out, the suspension in the S2 is very compliant on the track, so I doubt just changing a few bushings is going to make a big difference.
