In my quest to dampen as much engine vibration as possible, I’m wondering if an engine torque damper would help.

Anyone using one? I’ve seen a few pictures of 944 engine bays with it installed.

I’m already using OEM hydraulic engine mounts which made a difference. But looking for more.

Interested to hear in other suggestions as well.

The S2 3l engines have one intergrated into the accerssory belt pulley, theyre reasonably expensive to get now. There is a URO replacement but its URO...

DRS development made a replacement hub that replaced all the crank pulleys and allowed you install a ATI Damper but it was a limited run and youd have to find one that someone didnt end up using it willing to sell. Jan may still have one but its a long shot.

Quite a few mods to the belt covers to make it work. Its also quite a bit larger so will be overdriving your Alternator/AC Compressor slightly

It braces the cam tower to the chassis and helps the engine from rocking.

I don't think either of these products will reduce vibration experienced in the chassis.
The crankshaft damper is a torsional device mainly utilized to reduce stress in the crankshaft.
The "mini" shock absorbers were never used in the 944 design. They were utilized in the 928 design prior to hydraulic engine mounts being incorporated in the later design.
Best bet is to be sure the balance belt timing and components are correct. The transmission mount is healthy and perhaps on the next clutch replacement, consider having the flywheel, and pressure plate assembly dynamically balanced.

I know that changing the motor mounts and transmission mount at the same time reduces vibrations significantly.
