What’s the best way to clean and restore a 944’s undercarriage?
Thanks for any help

I've no personal experience (yet), but I've been very impressed with Dry Ice Blasting. The results look to be amazing. Pricey, though.

I've looked at that for several years. It depends on how far you want to go and are willing to spend, or at least, what is your end goal.
Top of the list and the most expensive is CO2 (dry Ice as mentioned above) blasting which is quite effective and non destructive or caustic but is likely a couple thousand dollars. ( I attended a demonstration on a 930 at a detail shop an the generalized cost was about $250/corner for the suspension if I remember correctly, then add the rest of the under-carriage)
I've seen comments of just getting your car up to get underneath and steam the grime with an inexpensive hand held steamer, then wipe down with rags and possibly some solvent/degreaser.
You could try pressure washing but you would have to be careful under the engine.
What is your goal?

I have had good luck with just using a steamer and rags (toothbrush ect) as mentioned above. I personally have the McCulloch MC1275.

paging @Crazy Eddie for pics of his undercarriage. Absurdly clean and done on his back with a little brush iirc.

I’m looking to clean it up best I can. Dry ice cleaning wouldn’t be an option for me at this time do to the cost.
Maybe I’ll look at the steamers?/

Tooth brush and gasoline … in my younger days when I was foolish…
Although I have to say it worked like a charm

Here's an oldie but goodie we did after the Panorama article came out on his car, celebrating the 944 Turbo S, and his then new GT4.
