Flywheel lock print

Hi all, i am bout to 3D print flywheel lock for 944, i need to do al timing belts and camshaft housing gasket Do you think that 3D printed lock will be good enough for it, and will it hold with PLA or better to use ABS? Thanks

As I've said, no plastic printable on a typical home FDM printer will be strong enough to undo the front pulley bolt. It will break. On the other hand, if you just want to prevent the motor from moving off TDC while installing a belt, etc., then any plastic should be good enough for that.

Thanks, pulley bolt will stay on, its purely just for holding TDC for timing.

I did my belts last fall. A person doesn't strictly need the flywheel lock. It takes deliberate effort to move the crank, even with the spark plugs out. Plus, confirming the timing mark is aligned in the bell housing peep hole will be reassuring prior to belt installation.

Though if I had a 3D printer to make a flywheel lock, I might have locked it regardless.
