While the 718 Spyder has the volume, I found that, compared to my 981 Spyder and my 2 991.2 GT3s, that the sound quality wasn't that great until higher RPMs. Right after I got the car, I ordered a Kline exhaust setup since it had the tone I wanted created by a crossover/x pipe between the cylinder banks.
My criteria for the exhaust was that it had to support valves, could not drone, had a crossover when the valves were open and used the factory tips. The Kline did all of that so I ordered it and waited for 4 months. It finally showed up on my doorstep and I did the install myself. Time consuming but not too hard - Porsche was kind with bolt placement etc. Nothing egregiously hard to reach and only the diffuser had to come off, not the full undertray.
After install, I was surprised how mellow it was at idle. It's not even as loud or as bassy as the factory exhaust at idle. It stays mellow until 4000 rpm (even with the valves locked open with my cargraphics valve controller). After 4000 rpm, it makes a beautiful and loud wail. Totally in love with the car again.

Nice, kitw! How long did the install take you?

Took about 4 hrs. About 45 min spend looking for a proper clamp for the vacuum lines… haha
Really wasn’t hard, Porsche put the bolts in reasonably accessible locations.

That's a very cool video shot. I actually thought it was rendered for the first minute or so. Mind sharing how to do that?
I've had easily a dozen 981 and 718 spyders/GT4's visit my house over the last month (license plate mounts, cars and coffee, etc.), and have had a chance to hear a several exhausts. I had a stock 981 GT4 and stock 718 GT4 race away from the house back-to-back one day and --while they both sound great-- the 981GT4 really has a special tone/rasp/volume. I also had a 718 Spyder over with an Akrapovic exhaust and that one sounded like a day at the historics to me -- quite loud and raspy --very cool, but loud! Based on this video (so hard to know for sure), it sounds like the Kline is a bit more mellow than the Akrapovic stuff with more tone and less volume?
Maybe we should stage an exhaust-off somewhere? Maybe have Kit or @JetFuelOnly do a video of it. We seem to have all the cars/exhausts needed for a pretty good comparison...

Sounds good to me!
This video is an insta360 perched on a carbon selfie stick. Looks silly but it produces fun footage

Porsche did it right with the 718 Spyder, and Kit's car would make Batman blush. With a new 911 and an old MBZ convertible, I don't know how to justify adding 718 Spyder, but it sure "feels" like one of those cars that will become a Porsche classic over time.

Great follow-up video letting you hear the exhaust better for sure. Of course, my favorite part was the Track Nanny shout out. Thanks
I'm going to see if I can round up some cars for a side-by-side exhaust comparison. Would be interesting to hear some of the aftermarket exhausts on a 718 side-by-side and compare them to a stock 981 GT4...
