As I was assembling this engine, I thought I'd highlight several assembly tools and tips that will save time and aggravation. There are 4 shown in the two photos. Are they obvious?
Main studs with vacuum caps to protect crankshaft. Oil pan studs to stretch the gasket and hold it in place.
Connecting rod chopstick to protect crankshaft. Tapered ring compressor for piston installation.

on the right and left sides of the main bearing webbing - not in a normal 944 block!

i like to think of hte black things as 'stud condoms".....
