As I was assembling this engine, I thought I'd highlight several assembly tools and tips that will save time and aggravation. There are 4 shown in the two photos. Are they obvious?

Main studs with vacuum caps to protect crankshaft. Oil pan studs to stretch the gasket and hold it in place.
Connecting rod chopstick to protect crankshaft. Tapered ring compressor for piston installation.

Sharpie marks on the front main bearing to help identify the dowel pin location. I have always marked the location, but drawing a line around the circumference is a great idea.

I think the "chopstick" is more there to line up and seat the rod bearing without wrapping yourself around the engine block. Protection certainly doesn't hurt though. :)
