I finally was at the point that I could fit the front apron but before doing so I wanted to check the headlight washers funktion. Hmm they did not work!ðŸĪ”Turns out that the pump for the headlights (has its own pump) was broken. I ordered and fitted a new pump plus new checkvalves and nozzles in the apron. Tested again and now they work so the front will be fitted next🙂

When testing the washer system I also noticed bad function for the windshield so narrowed it down to that the checkvalves was not working as they should so ordered them aswell. The highpressure system works but also gets affected by the bad checkvalves.

The washer system is very complicated with 3 different systems with 3 pumps and they are separated with different checkvalves the separates the systems.

1: windshield activates by drawing stalk towards you and pump in enginebay activates.

2: headlights activates by pushing stalk forwards (when headlights are up) and activetes pump at the bottom of washer reservoir.

3: highpressure system. Activates by button on the underside of the pod and activates pump under the front bumper and drawes fluid from the small reservoir at the hoodlatch.

Looking great, although that little pink vacuum pod in the cowl area gives me nightmares after all the effort needed to change those on my 450SL....

ðŸĪĢðŸĪĢ👍 yes I changed all those vacuum pods in a -89 928 GT I owned way back and I literally had to dismantle half the car to do so. Very satisfying once done thoughðŸŧ

New hoodinsulation, airfilter, new Kuhmo tires and new checkvalves for the window washer that by the way do not want to work properlyðŸĪ” headlight washers work and the highptessure washer but the main system just does not want to spray with any sort lf pressure!? Cant figure out whats wrong..

When I bought the car a aftermarket stereo was fitted and cutouts in the centerconsole trim had been made. Also the warninglight console had been cut to accomodate the modern stereo.
The early 928:s had very nice integrated stereo's so that is the way forward🙂

Here are the cut pieces.
These are both NLA since forever but a friend here in Sweden has alot of 928 parts and luckily for me he had bothðŸŧ

Here are a couple of pics with all the nice new/old stock non cut pieces fitted. I am very happy with the result ðŸĨģ

If you look closely and compare with the previous pics you can see how much work Porsche put in to integrate the stereo. Even the knobs are special on the stereo and made to look and match the other 928 specific knobs in the interior, how cool is that 😀👌 Just love that kind of details.

Thank you Hawk! I feel that especially with these early 928:s (1978-79) originality is the way to go. These cars was so clean in a way that the later spoiler was not so keeping it original is my plan.

Ok so one of the last tasks was to rebuild my doorcards. At some point more modern speakers was fitted, round and on the outside of the panel.
Originally they were integrated and behind a perforated vinyl section on the doorcard. Very sleek and nicely done by Porsche.

The original perforated vinyl was missing so I had to reproduce them.
I found a owner of another -79 150km from were I live so I could make a template from his car. There are a few hundreds of holes for the speaker but I got it done eventuallyðŸĪŠ

Here are a few pics from how the doorcards looked before with the cutout for the new speakers they fitted and the mismatching color vinyl they used (major difference to stock color!) Also a few pics of the template I made and how I got the perforation made in the "correct " type vinyl. The last pic show vinyl before and soon to be🙂
