I’m embarrassed to say that this is the first time I read this entire thread. I’m blown away by your talent, perseverance and attention to detail. I can’t wait to see photos of the finished project. This is car photo journalism at its finest. Thanks so much for sharing.
Best,
Larry

Dear Englebert Da Vinci,
Larry prompted me to check out this build and for those of us who have trouble constructing Legos, viewing this automotive masterpiece has been like watching an artist work the palette over and over till perfection is achieved and the beauty is expressed to the World. I know I speak for all thanking you for the behind the scenes view of the " Pristine Green Machine!" Virginia is for Lovers...................er...............Virginia is for Master Builders! If this is not your main job, your genius in the details is remarkable and for those of us who have talents in other areas , viewing and reading about this stunning 71 911 is both a visual and written chronicle of metalworking skill. Thank you for the journey and we can't wait to take a ride!!
PS - one of my favorite parts of auto restory ( play on words as it is a small book ) is your frequent comments of, " Well, I could not find a part, an oven, a brace, etc, so I just made one! " I had to laugh on occasion as I never thought you were derailed I just inserted any pause with, " Well Englebert is making another tool he feels is better than one he could buy!"

I had this 993 heat cross over pipe still attached to the engine as I had it installed in the 84 Targa as a loaner, until I needed it back for the 71.

The long hood rear bumper just don't have enough space for anything, especially with the 3.6 and still having the 964 engine console.
I got this GT3 muffler and it was the plan to use it for the 71 together with the 3.6 engine.

This will be a future project to implement it, and I decided to take a different way for the time so I can finish the car.
With the heat cross over pipe removed, I use a Magnaflow cross muffler I had and made some connection pipes from the 993 heat exchanger to the muffler.

I made the exit below the bumperettes. Here is it all fitted and finish welded.

I blasted and Cerakoted the whole thing except the end pipes.

This will do for now.
Back to the Frunk area. Installed the gas tank and some other bits and pieces.

Finally mounting tires on the finished wheels.

It still sits a little high, but that will be adjusted during alignment.

So I had to make some linkages for the door pulls. Here temporarily with black pulls which will be replaced with another color.

First door panel is done.

Also finished the gas door and make a protective flap from leather. Why not ?

Since I like my frunk line so much I did on the other 2 cars, I could not leave this alone.

The hood got a custom crest.

Finally time to do the alignment with the new setup I made last year.

Finishing the doors.

Also finishing the rest of the dash and interior.

Here are a few more pictures.

Cheers
Engelbert

Drives great, I still need to sort out some things. Also want to install the GT3 muffler, so that will be another sub project. I drove it the other day and took some pictures. Here are a few of them.
