I'm glad to see that the red car still has its place in the new barn. I was afraid you might have put her out to pasture or worse, sold her to the glue factory!

My little Boxster is my daily driver. It also seems to have entered the pet dog part of car ownership. Always there. Not going anywhere.
My drive home from Orlando this morning was 70 miles. Couple of things I noticed. On the on/off ramp sweepers I could tell the car is heavier than my Boxster and that the engine was in front. I kept to legal speeds, the location for 12V was not conducive for the radar detector. The cabin is comfortable, no complaints from my CFO. But, definitely a GT car first. Next weekend or two I'll it out on the only bit of twisty road here. Trying some things in the garage that needed the engine running, that V8 sounds great. I do think that the California T is a good looking car. You can tell that German and Italian design esthetics are very different. And that's a good thing.

Thoughts after a week.
Maranello rolls off the tongue better than Zuffenhausen.
The California T is not a Boxster. And I didn't buy it to compete. I can tell that the Cali T is heavier and has the engine in the front. It is a very capable GT car. Steering on the Ferrari is a little quicker, but not an issue. The brakes, big carbon ceramics, right now are not calibrated with my right foot. Acceleration is very good! Interior space is a little bit more than the Boxster. Everything is close at hand, but in a different thought process than the Boxster. I am getting used to everything on the steering wheel, not sure I necessarily agree. I have been using the paddle shifters in manual mode. I am slowly getting used to this. I have tried to find a clutch pedal or shifter knob a few times. The retractable hardtop is a piece of grand theater. With the top up it's very coupe. I will need to hard wire the radar detector. And I am researching what to do with the infotainment system.
My plan is drive this thing. Will try and get to the Smokies in the fall. It's pretty neat to find a Ferrari in the garage.

Excellent on both counts, and as for the finding it in the garage, indeed it is I'm sure.Stormy_Monday wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 8:08 am Thoughts after a week.

Thanks for the feedback - keep it coming as you find more of interest for the curious P-crowd.

The Cali T came home today after a couple of weeks at the dealer. Two weeks ago, I backed the car out of the garage, went to put it in auto to go forward, and nothing. How Ferrari operate the DCT is all electronically. There are two buttons on the center console, Reverse and Auto. Pull the right paddle to go forward. Pull both to go to neutral. No secondary way of overriding this. When the driver of the trailer arrived, he showed me that Ferrari has an access port in the trunk and a tool in the kit, to put disconnect the transaxle and winch it into the trailer.
I kept thinking that this would be great with a manual and a clutch pedal. In the past, I've limped cars home after something let go. Now I am at the mercy of a few lines of code.
Good GT car, though

Why did it stop working? Your post has me thinking though. Isn't that the same as a PDK porsche? The shifter nub on my 992 must be all electronic right? What if it stops working? Do we have some kind of disconnect do-hickey?Stormy_Monday wrote: Fri Aug 01, 2025 5:39 pm The Cali T came home today after a couple of weeks at the dealer. there is a switch associated with the paddles in the steering column. Part of the switch broke.Tom wrote: Sat Aug 02, 2025 7:15 amWhy did it stop working? Your post has me thinking though. Is it the same as the Porsche PDK? That would be interesting.

I'd also like to know what the override protocol is.

I would be curious what Porsche has in the way of an override. Ferrari basically uses a tool to manually put the transmission into Neutral so you can manually move the car. Still does not allow driving forward.

I guess Porsche does something similar. Here's a how-to on the Cayenne. Now I just need to find something on the 992..
