With all of the proposed interfaces and planned activities going on at the same time, I don't see how anyone will have the time to drive, much less the required attentiveness if they decide to actually do so. I guess they'll just sit in parking lots and play with their infotainment systems...

This one does have a very pleasant and relaxing view. A serene parking lot - one I've never experienced.

Interesting article! The project timeline performance impresses me especially; Porsche and their Chinese partners worked across borders, time zones, and cultures to design and build a solution within multiple constraints, and using technology unfamiliar to the partner.

In my experience (enterprise project management systems) , projects like this usually fail on schedule, budget, or both. This was very hard work done well.

I will say, though, that there should be a follow-up to figure out what to do with the new blank space between the radio knobs, where they've eliminated the eight physical buttons we're accustomed to.

It's also odd to note the two DVD track-skip buttons are present, but not a slot for the DVD?

Quick update on adding Android Auto to my 718 Boxster's infotainment system.

For the last week I drove from east coast of Florida to Northern GA, then to Robbinsville NC, all the great roads up there. Then returned home today. Issues that popped up were phone related, not the upgrade. Somewhere south of Dublin GA my phone decided to turn on Airplane mode. I didn't notice this until half an hour later. Up in them thar hills, cell service was sketchy, and I could not connect to google and see my destination. And yesterday, in very rural GA I lost showing the map on the car's display. Satellite worked ok. Everything reset when I returned to good cell coverage.

All in all, very satisfied. Good update to my car, Highly recommended.
