Fitted the various parts and trim on the hatch, all cleaned up and lubed, ready for another 40 years of service

When the headache from newyears gave in I went out in the garage and started cleaning the hatcharea. It is in great original condition and no rust in the batterybox.
Quarter Windows will go in next and they can be a pain to get in properly.

Ok so 1 of the quarter windows are in. I had to redo it once since it is hard to get it seated correctly. I am happy with the result. With alot of soapwater it is possible to adjust it a bit once the seal is seated to get a as flush as possible fit.

Rear glass is all done. It is timeconsuming to get all the trim fitting nicely and I finally settled with feeling "OK" about it.

Next up was the rearbumper. It is fitted as an assembly of parts or it will be difficult to fit.
So more cleaning, finishing and painting small parts before fitment.
I also polished the rearlight lenses.

Work is proceeding with cleaning parts, glueing loose vinyl to interior panels and installing them. Very satisfying work
I also a watervacuumcleaner ( is that the correct name?) And cleaned all the interior carpets. Cant believe the amount of dirt hidden in the carpets!

Looking good! Makes me feel like I'm working on a car even when I'm just sitting around being lazy. 
A friend of mine takes carpets out of the car and uses a high pressure washer on them. As long as you don't go crazy with too much pressure, too close, that is an amazingly effective way to clean up old carpets. Yours looked too clean for that, but if you have any stubborn areas.... As for what you call that vacuum, I'd probably call it a 'wet vac" but don't think there is one universal term for it.

glad you can be a "passive" worker!Yes I have also used that pressure washer method but only on my Saabs and more modern machinery. Very effective but wouldnt dare on these NLA classic porsche parts.
I have almost finished up the interior now and cant wait to drive around in this psycadelic masterpiece of driving space
