Thanks edub, the process seems a bit complicated/confusing to the uninitiated.

My 2021 Cayman has version: MHI2_US_POG11_P5177, car has Burmiester but no navigation.

In the PCM I see navigation Version: Region North_America-Version 13

From the link there is info about Bose system update you might need to do, not sure if there is also a burmeister update as well.

I do have apple cap play working, wanting to get the Precision track app to work. It would be cool to have the basic navigation working as well.

That link brings me to page 4 of a 32 page thread.... Yikes!

Making progress.
Got the latest file, put it on a SD card, set it to auto install, installed the card into the slot and it did the reboot dance.

Not yet sure how to take a backup of what I have. I have tried to activate navigation, it now shows it is on and I have 8-9 satellites in view however the nav/map buttons are not working. I also activated the WLAN so I can join the wifi for the track precision app. I joined the wifi but still cannot yet get the track precision app to finish the connection.

Will keep working at it, thanks again for the help.

Hey J-Dub,

Congrats on the progress.

When you enter the MIB menu (the green screen) once you scroll down, taking a backup should be one of the first options available to run.

As you've been able to activate wireless and nav, it sounds like you're properly patched the PCM (the reboot dance process) however I don't know why the Nav and Map buttons won't work. Likely, the feature isn't enabled yet.

Have you been able to read through the thread yet? There may be mention of the Burmeister, unfortunately I don't know how the patch may affect that as I don't have a test car with those features. That thread is pretty active so you can absolutely ask questions there and get traction. For issues that stump the thread, I have seen backchannel conversations happen to help direct the troubleshooting so, you're in good hands! Just keep some notes or take photos of the menus you have questions so folks can help you along. I think you're close, if not already there by the time you read this.

Thanks edub,

Tonight I took a backup, flashed the patched image and enabled NAR nav, still nav not working. I tried enabling nav and let it reboot several time, I also verified I have a 3D fix with multiple satellites.

I am going back to that long thread to keep reading and see if I find other ideas of what to look at and possiable solutions.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Update,

Downloaded and unziped the patches file, moved all of the US patch folders to the patches folder on the SD card.

Started the process over and now I have maps and nav. I also have one other new thing when you hit the car button you get a Sports Crono option. I have the clock on the top of the dash, and a crono option on the MFD but now have a SC on the stereo screen. Sort of exciting.

I initially thought since the new MIB version was only a week old I did not need the patch files, like patch files are small updates to the main file. Apparently this was incorrect thinking on my part.

Next to figure out how to update the NAR maps. Currently I have NAR 2020/2021.

Ok thats great, and it makes sense. The directions and latest software work pretty reliably.

The map is difficult, its quite a large download(s) and takes time.

Track precision now works after I changed from "WLAN coding activated" to "WLAN Hotspot coding activated" .

I also enabled Video in motion however not sure how to make use of that yet.

Next will be to update the NAR map files....

Update: now on the 2022/2023 NAR map files.

Sweet! Thanks @edub

We added a 2017 Cayman Base to the family last week and thanks to this info I was able to enable CarPlay on the car even though it wasn't part of the original spec.

Thank you so much!

Hey guys!

New member, but went down this rabbit hole and I've found this group/thread about enabling AA.

Anyone did this for PCM 4.1 Macans? I've got a 19 S and would love to enable this. Although I don't think it'll be as easy as putting an SD card in and "installing" like the video states. All the other (paid) methods involve getting a USB-Network adapter, hooking up a laptop via a network cable and transferring the data files.

Any suggestions?

TIA

I can't say for sure, but check on rennlist . Look up socal718, he's the guy who did my work remotely and he is more than happy to help if it can be done, in fact he loves a challenge.
